Brian Clements, or Clem, is a Canadian artist who works primarily in oil on canvas and experiments with digital art. His work spans from the impressionistic to the abstract, depending on the concept, theme, or emotion that he is looking to express. Clem likes to create art that challenges how we view, see and judge the world we live in. “I like to apply my lens to ideas and concepts that allow the viewer to see things under a new light – with the aim of challenging preconceived notions or perspectives. Ultimately, the work should spark dialog and conversation.”
Although Canadian art is quite often associated with landscapes and nature, Clem still considers his work reflective of being Canadian. You can’t help but be inspired and influenced by the natural world all around us growing up in Canada, however, there is another aspect to being Canadian that is also beautiful and inspiring – the multi-cultural landscape that we live in. The close proximity to so many cultures, religions, philosophy and diverse points of view are woven into his work. He loves to explore these ideas and unique perspectives of the world through his art.
